According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Holly Springs, MS ranks number one among the 50 states for chlamydia and gonorrhea rates.

Further investigation found that medical visits have been limited to the times when children/youth are ill or require check ups for school and inquiries about HIV were mainly limited to teens who were already sexually active and seeking reproductive services. As of 2007, many churches that are in the five highest in Marshall County, especially Holly Springs, and neighborhoods with cumulative STD's cases have no specific ministry or educational programming outside of abstinence training that addresses health education, particularly from the prospective of youth.
