National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day

I am Angela Rowe, Chair of the Board of Directors for Aniz, Inc. I decided to become involved with Aniz because I am concerned about the alarming number of people in our community who are contracting HIV/AIDS and because I felt a strong obligation to donate back to the community. When I first set foot in our office, I knew that I had found a place to donate my time. The atmosphere and the CEO are overwhelmingly warm and inviting. I came in expecting to just be a volunteer but I became so attached that, when asked to be on the Board, I was honored and immediately accepted. I felt that this would allow me to make a real difference in the fight against HIV/AIDS. My first endeavor was as a volunteer with the AIDS Walk Atlanta and to say that it was a thrill would be an understatement. It was truly a day that I will never forget for as long as I live. After a couple of months on the Board, I was asked to be the interim Board Chair and I readily agreed because I was so hooked on Aniz, Inc. When I was elected as the Board Chair, it was one of the happiest times of my life.
